In 2004, Edward “Ted” Cotton moved from Massachusetts to join his father, Floyd Cotton, at Equitable Advisors, LLC. back in San Mateo, CA. Ted was born and raised in San Mateo and spent 10 years there in partnership with his dad before moving to New Hampshire to be closer to his wife Alice’s side of the family. You might be thinking, “Wow, that’s a big change going from California to New Hampshire” and, yes, it takes some getting used to but it fits a lot of his thinking about helping people with their financial planning. A famous Greek philosopher may have once said, “The only constant is change”. In his 20 years, one thing he’s noticed is that Life Happens! We do our best to create a plan or strategy, implement it, and stay the course but we know there will be hiccups and modifications along the way. The ability to be flexible and pivot as needed is a key to success.
In 2013, Ted earned his Certified Financial Planner™ professional designation (CFP®); widely considered one of the top industry designations. Whether you’re a Business Owner, an Employee or Retired, Ted loves working with people who want help and guidance through life’s many phases. Ted wants to be one of the first two people you call when you have an important financial question come up.
Ted’s goal is to make sure Your Financial Goals are met. Whether you are saving for retirement, trying to reduce your taxes, making sure your family is taken care of or, making sure you have a comfortable income in retirement, Ted is there for you.
Ted’s office is in Nashua, New Hampshire and he lives nearby with his wife Alice and their three kids. An avid soccer player for over 40 years, Ted still plays co-ed indoor in the winter, tries to find time for golf in the summer and loves to travel with the family around the country to Amusement Parks and National Parks!
